Stephen Thomas (54)

Non-executive Chairman (A) (N) (R)

Stephen joined the board in May 2000, and in December 2000 became Non – Executive Chairman.  Stephen is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and Nominations Committee. Stephen is Chief Executive of Luminar Plc.  He is a leading leisure industry operator with over 30 years' experience.  Stephen founded Luminar in 1987 and the company was floated in 1996 when it operated 14 Chicago Rock Cafés and 18 discotheques and achieved a market capitalisation of £30m.  Since then, he has developed the business into one of the UK's leading leisure groups, which has achieved FTSE250 status through both organic growth and acquisitions.

James Kowszun (39)

Chief Executive

James joined the board in May 2002 having formerly been the Finance Director of SFI Group plc since August 2000 and before that, the Finance Director of The Slug and Lettuce Group plc until its takeover by SFI in August 2000. His previous employment experience includes working in strategic planning at Bass Brewers (now Coors) and corporate development at SmithKline Beecham (now Glaxo SmithKline).  James is a qualified chartered accountant, where he specialised in Corporate Recovery.

Raymond McClymont (42)

Chief Operating Officer

Ray joined the board in August 2006. He joined from Laurel Pub Company, where he was Director of Operations and Catering for the quality food division, including brands such as The Slug & Lettuce and Ha!Ha! Bar & Canteen. He has worked in licensed retail for nearly 20 years and during that time he has managed both branded and unbranded businesses, with experience of running both food-driven and drink-led outlets. His significant expertise in both food development and brand roll-out are ideally matched to the next stage of The Group’s development.

Steve Smith (54)

Finanace Director

Steve joined the Board in February 2008 as Finance Director. Mr Smith is a Chartered Management Accountant and fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Following 22 years at The Rank Organisation, the last six years being as Group Treasurer, he has held various senior financial positions including finance director roles for a number of public and private companies.
